August events

Wow, the summer is flying by!  Are you ready for August?  We have some great events coming up -- hope you can make it to them!

Right now -- Tote bag sewing for the tote bag swap!  This is for the meet-up in Portland later in the month.  We each get a half-yard of Robert Kaufmann's new denim line.  If you'd like to participate, I have extra fabric.  It just needs to be done by our meeting on August 14.

Aug 14 -- Evening Member Meeting -- 7pm -- Market of Choice
What's happening: Show and Tell, Monthly Swap (the theme is RED!!), Membership Talk about elections/by-laws/dues (to prepare for the election in September), and planning for our big event on Aug 31.

Aug 15-18 -- Pacific Northwest Modern Quilt Guilds Meet-up -- Portland
Join modern quilt guild members from all over the PNW (BC to Southern Oregon!) for a fun weekend of sewing, shopping, classes, and more.  You can go for a day or for the entire weekend.  Registration might be closing soon, so go to http://portlandmodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/2013/06/pnw-mqg-meet-up-pdx.html

for all the details.  We'll have at least five Corvallis members going... join us!

Aug 24 -- August Sew Day -- Noon to 7pm -- Market of Choice
Sewing, sewing, and more sewing!  If you get there first, please go ahead and get started.  Hope to see you there!

Aug 31 -- Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild 1st Anniversary Party at the Corvallis Farmer's Market!
Thanks to Lisa, we will have a booth at the Farmer's Market to showcase our growing guild and celebrate our one year anniversary.  We will need lots of people at the booth to answer questions and share information. We hope to have lots of quilting and sewing projects, in any phase of completion, to decorate the booth.  Additionally, there will be electricity and we hope to actually be sewing!  There is talk of a jelly roll race!  Come to the evening meeting to help plan this event.

Happy sewing & see you soon!
