March 2016 Meeting Recap

Business Review

We collected the quilt blocks for the OSU Craft Center quilt tonight and passed them off to Shelia to piece. If you haven't turned in your blocks, but would still like to participate, please let us know as soon as possible so we can get them to Shelia to begin piecing it!

Quarter 3 charity will be 1-hour baskets. The guild will provide the fusible fleece needed for this pattern. We will have it available at our July/August/September meetings and sew days.

Caroline donated a quilt to the guild and in turn, we donated the quilt to Tanya on behalf of the Corvallis Soroptimist. It will be a part of a tea fundraiser in the spring.

Presentation Review

So you want to join a swap!  Caroline shared everything you need to know about swaps from: how to find them, things to think about before you join, how to be a good swapper, etc.

Courtney talked briefly about hashtags and how to use them. Her handout also included the Instagram handles of our CMQG members.

If you missed the meeting and would like a copy of the handouts, let us know at the next meeting or sew day.

Show & Tell Highlights:

Caroline shared her hexagon floor mat! BEAUTIFUL!!

Shelia has been working with scraps and playing with her quilting. She made this great little mini!

Carol made this pretty shabby chic quilt for her daughter. The back is black minky - so soft!!

Janet is working on this quilt for a friend who is retiring. The friend loves the ocean, but lives a long way away, so Janet is making her an ocean inspired quilt! It's so fun - can't wait to see how you quilt it, Janet!

And one from the polaroid block swap - so many fun blocks!!

Looking Ahead to April

Our April swap is PIN CUSHIONS! If you need some inspiration, we've collected a bunch of fun ideas over on our Pinterest page!
