August Meeting

Here's the plan for this month's meeting on Friday, August 14th:

Happy Hour/Dinner @ Sky High Brewing & Pub
160 NW Jackson (behind Sibling Revelry) between 1st & 2nd Streets

As they don't take reservations, please reply to either the email that was mailed out today or to our Facebook post (but not both), so that I can give them a number when I arrive around 5:15.

We'll head over to Riverfront Park across 1st Street at approximately 7:00 PM
Bring a quilt to sit on or share; your EPP, knitting, crocheting, hand quilting, or whatever you want; and something to swap.  This month's swap is "swapper's choice" (thanks for the reminder, Tanya!).  Bring whatever you'd like to swap with someone. Just make sure it's something you'd also like to receive :) Maybe you have some items you've made to have on hand as gifts - bags, napkins, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions, and don't forget to reply to the email or Facebook post to let me know if you'll be able to join us.

October Meeting Recap

Meeting minutes

It's official! The Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild is now a member of the national Modern Quilt Guild.  All present unanimously voted to join the mothership at our monthly guild meeting.  Yay!

The annual dues amount was voted on and passed at $30.   This membership is good through the end of 2014.

Modern Quilt Guild bylaws were voted on and approved unanimously.

Board members were elected for the following positions:

Connie Langevin, President
Lisa Nielsen, Vice-President
Christina Fox and Carol Terrill,  co-Treasurers
Caroline Press, Secretary

Connie pointed out that anyone who wishes is welcome to help out the guild, plan events, organization, or any other job you would like to do or to help with.  You do not need to be a board member to help out . If you have an idea or suggestion, please email any of us or bring up the idea at the monthly meeting.

This months swap theme was CMQG official colors which are lime, navy, orange and teal.

Here are the items we swaped at this months meeting:

Wow, they all color coordinate amazingly well.

Upcoming dates:

October Sew day 26th
The next guild meeting is November 13th
November Sew day is November 23rd, one week earlier due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Next months swap theme is Celebrations/Fireworks (Guy Faulks tie-in, no particular reason)

CMQG at the Farmer's Market!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the first anniversary event at the Corvallis Farmer's Market this past Saturday. It was so much fun. We had a beautiful booth thanks to the lovely organizers of the Farmer’s Market, Rebecca Landis and Vonda Peters.  And we had a little help from the fabulous sewn goods of our members.  It looked awesome if I do say so myself.
#corvallismodernquiltguild booth this is so fun.

It was fun to reach out to our community and we did seem to talk to people for the entire time we were there.  Who knew there would be this much interest in modern quilts!?
