March Meeting Notes

Updates
Our leader was absent so Lisa and I muddled through.

We welcomed 4 new people to our guild meeting.  Welcome to Lisa,  Sarah, Kelly, and Mancy!
It was so nice to see fresh faces. We hope you will join us again.

The fabric for the Metallics challenge for Quilt-Knit-Stitch in August in Portland has been received from Robert Kaufman.  It needs to be cut and will then be distributed. Possibly by March Sew day

There is no update for the fabric for the Michael Miller Modern QuiltGuild Challenge.

Membership cards arrived and were distributed.  Anyone who joined in the first round received their card.  We have cards for a couple of members who were not present.

Tutorials for sewn and swapped items are here:

Dana use this cute pattern to make an Origame Drawstring Bag. Frances Newcombe's blog Belly Buttons Boutique which I guess she got from mairuru's blog and it is called Cute Origami Drawstring Bag. Super simple and it just takes two 16" squares and a little string.

My tote was the Multi-tasker Tote pattern by Anna Maria Horner

It's official! The Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild is now a member of the national Modern Quilt Guild.  All present unanimously voted to join the mothership at our monthly guild meeting.  Yay!

September Happenings

Thank you so much to those who helped make our day out at the Farmer's Market a great success!  We had such a great response from the market attendees and over 20 people expressed an interest in learning more about our little guild!

We have started two new activities: freebie table at the Sew Day and a lending library available at both events.  The freebie table is for you to pass on any fabric, patterns, etc that you don't want.  If you have books that you don't want anymore (quilting/sewing/etc related), consider donating them to the Guild lending library.  Members can check out books at meetings.

Our September events include our Monthly Meeting on the 2nd Wednesday, which is  Sept 11th, and our Sew Day on the last Saturday, which is September 28th.  Both will be at the Market of Choice meeting room.

Monthly Meeting, 9/11, 7pm
Our plan for this meeting had been to hold elections and vote on by-laws and dues.  We will have our usual meeting, including introductions, show and tell (bring all your summer projects!), secret swap (the theme is FALL), a short discussion of the elections/by-laws/dues, a fun tutorial, and a door prize.  Don't forget to work on your nametags -- and if you need fabric for it, you can pick it up at the meeting.

Sew Day,  Sept 28th Noon-6pm
Bring your machine and projects and sew with us!  Extra irons, ironing surfaces, rotary cutters/mats, and extension cords are always helpful -- just be sure to label anything you are sharing.  Bring anything you want to share for the freebie table.

BTW, if you have a fun technique or skill that you would like to share with the group at either event, please let me know.

See you on the 11th and the 28th and happy sewing
