March Meeting Recap!

Calendar of Events:

Quilt County -- Every two years since 1991, Benton County transforms itself into Quilt County during the autumn months. Quilt County honors the art and quilt making of our region with many diverse exhibitions. The next Quilt County will be held during Fall, 2019.

This fall, our quilts will be displayed at Soft Star Shoes in Philomath. Pattie will be touring the store prior to the next meeting and will give us an update about the space!

This month we had a presentation and round-table discussion about pressing + ironing! Amber brought her wool pressing mat and bar, along with her mini iron (great for paper piecing or when you have to iron every seam - you can set up a little station next to your machine!). We talked about steam vs. no-steam, when to press seams open or to one side, different types of starch and pressing sprays (did you know you can use vodka?!) and even different threads to reduce bulk.

Shelia presented our Quarter 2 Charity Quilt - a Lattice Quilt! Blocks are due at the April 11th Meeting. We are still looking for someone to piece the blocks, and to quilt it. Any volunteers? Reach out at the April Meeting!

Show + Tell:

Jan was visiting us for the first time and brought along show + tell! She showed us two bright + cheery quilts using the according half square triangle method.

Kim showed off her sew tiny sampler blocks. They are SO TINY! She also brought along a cute spool of thread mini quilt.

Lorna shared a great bag, a beautiful + huge quilt made from aboriginal fabrics, and a sweet happy camper baby quilt.

Pattie showed us a darling heart baby quilt she made for her new granddaughter.

Chris shared her first sew together bag. We all loved the sushi fabric! She also showed off her new paper piecing skills - learned from Diana at the last Sew Day!

Caroline showed us two beautiful quilts - an amazing tiger lily quilt made using the YouPatch pattern service and this wonderful La Fin Du Monde quilt. She will be donating the heart quilt to our ABC House quilt drive!
