Quiltcon 2020!

Each year, the Modern Quilt Guild hosts QuiltCon, the largest modern quilting show of its kind. An exciting part of QuiltCon is the Charity Quilt Challenge! The Modern Quilt Guild chooses a theme and color palette and then guilds + individual members from around the world work to create quilts that are displayed at the show. The quilts are then sent back to the makers to be gifted to a local charity.
This year the theme was "text" with a color palette of grey scale.

We choose "alis volat propriis"-- the state motto of Oregon meaning "she flies with her own wings". We love working our beautiful state into our quilts when we can!

**Quilting was by Jammie of The Long Arm of the Law.

The quilt will be back for show + tell at the March 12th meeting! We're looking forward to showing this quilt off at various events throughout the year, before we gift it to a local organization.

Nice work CMQG Members!!

Guest Speaker - Nancy Bryant:

Our Sew Days are held at the Consumer's Power (CPI) Meeting Room (6990 SW West Hills Road).  Sew Days are an opportunity for our members to sit and sew our own projects together, without the distractions of home.  We bring our own machines and projects and snacks to share, and sometimes collaborate on projects together!  There's usually at least one iron/ironing surface to share, but more are always helpful. Join us and share some sewing time!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2020 Friends!

Just a reminder that it’s time to renew your Guild membership. Remember, your dues also include membership in the Modern Quilt Guild. As such, you have online access to members-only patterns, tutorials, webinars and so much more.

We’ve got lots of good things in the works for the coming year. We’ll be exploring some of the aspects of modern quilting like color/value and solids, and improv piecing (in which many of you have expressed an interest.) There’ll be swaps, our Queen of the UFO challenge, group charity quilts, sew days and of course, the chance to show your projects at each meeting.

Dues are $35 and we ask you to please renew before December 31st. You can pay your dues by using the Buy Now button to the right. NOTE: If you're using a mobile device, you'll probably need to scroll to the bottom of the page and choose "view web version" to access the payment button.

Thank you!

Quilt County 2019!

It's September and that means Quilt County is here!

This year our display is at Softstar Shoes in Philomath! Our quilts will be displayed the entire month of September - Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm. They look so good hanging in this fun space (a former roller rink!) and with that super fun green slide!

Stop by and check out our quilts! Please let us know when you do, and if you have any questions about a quilt or our group!

May Meeting Recap!

Calendar of Events:

ABC House Quilts - Florence (Diana's Mom) will be bringing our quilts back in June! She has also graciously agreed to quilt another round of quilts for us - she'll be collecting them at the June meeting and they will be returned to us to bind them in October. Backing reminder: fabric must be 8" larger than your quilt (aka: 4" extra on all 4 sides), please use a 1/2" seam allowance for piecing your back, and please no selvedge in the seam.

We have a few fun events coming up this summer!

May 25th -- Sew Day at the Consumers Power (CPI) Meeting Room located at 6990 SW West Hills Road from 10am until 5pm!

If you haven't been to a sew day before - it's basically just a big open sew! The CPI space is wonderful, full of windows and natural light, lots of table space and plenty of outlets so no extension cords are needed. There will be at least one ironing board and iron - but feel free to bring your own if you have a lot of ironing to do. Amber will be bringing her Accuquilt Go if you'd like to try it out. Also, feel free to bring snacks to share (reminder: there is no fridge or microwave)! Sew day is a great opportunity to get things done without the interruptions we often get at home - plus it's always so inspiring being there with fellow quilters working away on our individual projects!

06-14-19 ETA:  The meetup with Eugene was canceled.

June 22nd -- Meetup with Eugene Modern Quilt Guild!

Where: Sweet Earth Vineyards; 24843 Kyle Road, Monroe.

When: Saturday, June 22nd from 12pm to 2pm

What to bring:
  • Quilts to show! Sweet Earth has a wonderful area for hanging quilts and extra clothes line as well.
  • Snacks to share! This will be a very informal potluck. Any snacky food is encouraged.
  • Money for wine! Sweet Earth has tastings available, or wine by the glass.
  • Fabric baskets to swap! We'll be having a swap between the guilds and the theme is fabric baskets! If you need inspiration, we've got some great idea's pinned herePlease bring the basket in a paper bag for a blind swap!
The winery is pretty easy to find, driving south on 99W go to Monroe, turn right on Alpine Road (I'm pretty sure there is a sign saying Sweet Earth, but it's right after Dairy Mart), drive 3 miles or so to Kyle Drive and take a left. The winery is on Kyle Drive about 1.5-2 miles in. You can also get there taking Bellfountain to Alpine as well.

The winery has a decent amount of parking, but feel free to reach out if you're interested in carpooling. We'll chat more about this event at the June 13th Meeting.

Reminder -- No July Meeting. Our July meeting falls during the week of Quilters Affair and the Sisters Quilt Show.

July 27th -- BBQ Potluck at Pattie's! More details to come!

August 3rd -- Farmers Market! We'll be at the intersection of NW 1st Street & NW Jackson Avenue with a fun morning sharing our love of modern quilting with the community. Several of our members joined us after meeting us at the Market! As we get closer, there will be a call for modern quilts to display in our tent.
