QuiltCon!

Each year, the Modern Quilt Guild hosts QuiltCon, the largest modern quilting show of its kind. An exciting part of QuiltCon is the Charity Quilt Challenge! The Modern Quilt Guild choses a theme and color palette and then guilds + individual members from around the world work to create quilts that are displayed at the show. The quilts are then sent back to the makers to be gifted to a local charity.
This year the theme was "small piecing", which the MQG defined as incorporating fabric pieces that are smaller than 1" in either width or length.

For our quilt, we were inspired by Marys Peak - the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range, and prominent feature of our Corvallis skyline. Members contributed tiny pieced 4-inch blocks which were sewn to form her silhouette.

One of our members, Amber, attended QuiltCon and sent us these photos from the show! So fun to see it hanging up with all the other amazing quilts. Thanks for tracking it down, Amber

We're looking forward to showing this quilt off at various events throughout the year, before we gift it to a local organization. We haven't chosen our recipient yet so if you have any suggestions on a local charity or organization that would benefit from this gift - please reach out!

Nice work CMQG Members!
